I am thinking of getting BT Vision.
Can any one advise if the v box has caller id.
I currently use the BT easicom TV3 which dispays incomming calls on my TV. This is very useful in my line of work.
As the TV cabnet is now getting full eg Sky+ box, wireless video extender, calle id device etc it would be nice to ditch the current caller device if i get BT Vision.

As far as I can gather that feature is one which is "coming soon" when I'm not sure you can call from the Vision box but nothing incoming yet.
Apart from that BT Vision is a very good product on demand works extremely well.
But in direct answer to your question no it does not, it may come to the box it may not.

As always many thanks paulbeattie87 for your advice.
I will still get this product and hopefully caller id will be available in future updates.
In the meantime i will have to live with the clutter of devices i currently have.

Can't agree about the BT Viosn box. It 'may be' very good in the future. At the omnet I would cousel 'wait and see'.
When first released it was so buggy as to be unusable. The last release (1184) meant that it only locked up twice a day for me. (BTW the only thing that i needed to do to get it to lock up was USE it.) Two days ago the latest release (2019) was put on the servers. It will auto downmload to selected users for test. (Some people have done forced dowloads of it as well.) If all goes well it will roll out to all BT Vision boxes.
We shall see if it fixes the bugs. If they don't fix it this time - it's going back. In the meantime I advise people to wait. (Unless they offer you a free one to try.)

I've got the full package from sky and multi-room, why would I want BT Vision ?

My experience is very different to Beerhunters. I only get one or two lockups each week. I have many series setup to record and it has yet to miss any of them. The video on demand has also been faultless and the quality is great.
I hear that a second update will be available this month which contains further bug fixes.
My advice is to get it - it's free anyway and you only pay for what you watch on demand - unless you subscribe.

Have you got Sky broadband, telephone , HD etc ?

I just couldn't bring myself to give Rupert Murdoch so much money in a month!
Still having the full Sky package along with their BB etc is still a lot more expensive than Vision.
Oh and see their calls broadband and TV deal they are advertising not so cheap after you slap on the

It was a retention offer a while back, I think he means the free V-Box.

Cmon Beerhunter - Lets not go there eh ?

Well, you can't get multiroom, HD or as many channels on BTVision. I agree with you anyway - playing

I have a Sky+ including Links to 2 other rooms.
However as far cheeper alternative Bt Vision is excellent. With Sky losing some of the Footie, which will be available from Setanta through Vision Vision should increase its potential audience. The PVR is also easier to use than SKY. On Demand is great and puts to shame, Sky's Anytime TV.
Yes I accept that it has problems at the moment, but what new Technology doesn't.. Its nowhere near as bad as the misspelt nonsense written by Beerhunter. Sky+ when first released was far worse than BT Vision. Persistent lock ups etc. The main cause in Vision and previously Sky+ was trying to hurry with the remotes. Push the buttons too quick and they lock. Patience ia a virtue
Whether you pay for Vision or not is beside the point. Where can you get a Freeview PVR for

I got BTV without the install fee, I told the agent in error it said so on the website and he never corrected me. I had misread the box being free to include installation but got it anyway

I Got Vision installed last month and it's been a goodish experience so far had a few lock-ups but that tended to be when i was fiddling with the TV Settings. I have not missed a recording as of yet. I also got it installed free as the other 1/2 works for BT I have it connected via my netgear router and running at 720p on my TV. The on demand stuff is good and never had any problems when watching something.
I must admit i have become used to having it now esp for the series recordings as i have a habit of missing episodes.
done a force update to the new firmware and seems OK for the moment, so it gets a 8/10 for me now they only need to fix the HTTP issues and i will be happy with BTBB

At least you have not been offensive paulbeattie87.
However I do object to some saying that my post was nonsense. (Spell check must have been off an the time because I spelt three words wrong.)
I have had one of these boxes for a few month now and they are not reliable - it is that simple.
As to pressing the buttons too quickly this is supposed to be consumer product for goodness sake.

I am sorry but to vilify BT Vision as you did prompted me. Especially as some words were impossible to understand. All levels of knowledge post on this site and we all do typos.
From, advice on this site, BT, Sky, and my Own experience, most high tech consumer devices will have problems when they get confused by rapid button presses. Sky+: Mobile Phones: Games Consoles; TVs the list is endless.
Also as I said Sky+ was far worse when it was first released. In fact I would go on to say it is still more unreliable than BT Vision (This from the largest installer in the country. Not me)
Surely this is not just a negative forum. I you don't like it. Send it back.
I am impressed with BT Vision. Yes I have problems. The same as I do with the previously mentioned products. All I of which I use.
All is not sweetness and light though. I have had 5 months of BT Home Hub problems which I have persevered with. Even with all of BT's help/hindrance
