Does anyone know if the business broadband products are throttled the same as the retails ones?

Business broadband is managed but in a different way, It depends on the option you buy.

Option 1 has a cap of 10GB I believe

Option 2 has no usage cap however if you repeatadly breach the FUP (I have seen rumours of over 3/4 Terrabytes of data before capping gets added) you will be throttled between 6pm and midnight (deemed reasonable since majority of business do not use their connection at these times)

Option 3 is the same as option 2

Network has the same FUP as option two however with traffic prioritisation and a higher upload speed (884kbps I believe)

Hope this is helpful

You will get 20:1 contention however. In my opinion some of the 'throttling' that people complain about is caused by the 50:1 contention ratio kicking in at peak times.

If I remember correctly BT Wholesale no longer offer contended services like the ones you have described. Also if you go for option 1 or 2 its just standard residential broadband supplied to a business line. Option 3 is what you would class as the old 20:1 contention.

I also think you need business line rental to get the broadband. It's about

The services are still contended it just that BT said last year that they will no longer publish the contention ratios but say the BT BB Business will always have a better contention ratio than the home product.

From my understanding of the whole thing (which is limited) contention is no longer measured (if you are on Max) in the traditional ratio sense.

Option 3 is exactly the same as Option 2 but has some additional services (like Security and Web hosting and stuff)

The package that traditionally had the 20:1 contention is still called Network

The product is IPStream Office Max, which has upload of 884kbps and traffic prioritisation on the wholesale network
