My BT voyager router arrived on the 8th of May............and still cannot connect to BT broadband. My original installation pack included a faulty CDROM, when I called the ever so helpful call centre, i was advised to download bt/yahoo software usingm my dial up connection !!!!!
Now being a polite sort of chap this I duly did, and many moons later, everything was installed on my pc.........howver all was not as it seemed, my operating system XP home edition , recognised that a voyager 220v was connected, and indeed the router was connected , well according to the self diagnostic tests that it ran, but neither internet explorer or the bt browser would connect to the server. Several phone calls to India ensued, each time I called , being told i was to insert the CDROM, into my computer !, and each time I called every single 'advisor' promised to resolve the issue , with the magical crib sheet they must have in front of them, because each time I was instructed to try eveything in the exact same order as the previous call. Finally thinking the problem way lie with my PC , I completely re installed windows.........and still had the same 2 problems, I could not connect to the BT server and being sent round in ever decreasing circles from the call centre.
Finally after many attempts at asking for a new router, yesterday morning a brand new Voyager 220v arrived ...........this time complete with a working CD ROM, un install previous version , install new version........still the same problem unable to connect to server BT has assured me that the line is perfectly OK incidentally.
So last night another 4 hours on the phone to India, by now I am almostable to pre emot the questions and 'advice' Finally I get to speak to a line engineer, who assures me my router is perfect my pc is ok, but insists I open the command prompt and try some tests.....still I cannot connect, and now have the added bonus of my pc not recognising any DVD, CDROM or audio CD, even after using system restore windows does not recognise anything is in the drive.
Just for the record I have a phone bill of

You should have asked on here first. Uninstall all the BT software and throw the CD in the bin. Just connect your router to the ethernet port of your PC and you will have internet.

I ran a 220v until 3 weeks ago. Only had it as a hub replacement for about 6 weeks.
I had removed all trace of Bt software, plugged the 220v in using ethernet, and bingo, XP recognised it. When I tried to connect using XP software, it asked for the security key{From bottom of router), keyed that in , confirmed it and that was it.
Not being funny but is Broadband activated on your line. As indicated by the lights on the Modem.
It was the only time I have done this with any router.
I cannot really advise as it just worked. Could not get it to go with USB connection.
Maybe ask your computer vendor if XP is setup correctly. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Just make sure all BT software is removed and key is put in. Somehere in Network connections.

Can you post some screenshots of your Voyager status pages, so we can see what it says is connected?
Also, just try the following: -
Click on 'Start' and 'Run'
Type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the window.
In the pop-up command window, type 'ping www.bbc.co.uk' (again without quotes), then try 'ping 212.58.224.82' to see if the both time out.

Looks like either: -
1. Incorrect ISP login details (username and/or password wrong or upper/lower case entered incorrectly).
2. ISP has not activated your account.
But, my guess is you already knew that!
If you can (and possibly you can, because the ISP hasn't yet provided you with a service), get out of your contract and go to another ISP.

For the router you do not use your @btinternet account details. You need to set:
Username - [email protected] (where 'user' can literally be anything)
Password - leave blank
btbroadband uses your telephone line to authenticate you, the username and password are redundant.
You only need your btinternet account details for mail account login in whatever program you use for email and if you want to login at the BTYahoo home page to access webmail or change your user details.
