So after 10 days?

Ive been connected now for 11 days and have waited patiently. I signed up for Option 3 after being told many times by BT's online checker that I should receive at least a 6.5 mbs line
This is what I have as of this morning
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 3000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3712 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2635 kbps

This looks to be about half of what I was told I would be geting

What should I be doing now?

Check to make sure your internal wiring is OK.

I did the full wiring and system check yesterday. The line stats (speed) below have been identical for the last 7 days. Though it shows 3,712 Kbps it has usually been that shown on the BT speedtester as around 2,700.
Should my IP profile be set at 3000 on Option 3?

You should be on an profile 3Mbps according to your sync rate.

You also need to include your SNR margin and attenuation figures along with the sync rates to allow a fuller picture of your line characteristics.

Sorry I dont understand. Im not that Broadband technically minded.
I am on Option 3 and was promised at least a 6.5Mps broadband

For the first few days I was on a profile of 500Kbps then it went up.
Surely after 10 days it should now go up to 8Mps or at least 6.5

You were misinformed. You were probably promised up to 6.5Mbps. 50kbps is up to 6.5Mbps. This is typical marketing bull.

Yes, for that sync rate.

Your modem and the modem at the exchange establish the fastest reliable speed they can talk at, that is the sync rate. BT sets your profile to a fixed position somewhat lower than your sync rate.

So they misdescribed the product giving me the wrong idea of what I would be getting to ensure I signed with them.?

If it was a pension you might get compensation for mis-selling - broadband doesn't work like that.

Do please remember that no other ISP will be able to improve your line stats and get you a better speed. That is governed by your actual phone line which will be the same for all ISPs.
