BT vision woes

[link to this post]

Had vision since oct last year but recently its all gone wrong.About 1 month ago control stopped working, and had to rescan for channels every time i switched box on.Got in touch with helpdesk and got remote prob sorted but scan thing kept happening. Now the last 3 days the box will switch itself off and to get it working you have to unplug from mains and hold power button in for about 6 secs or so.Rang thd and they say i am not a vision customer, according to them checking my phone number, explained to them that i had number changed 1 month ago and they said that explained it and i would have to get in touch with customer services to change account details. Now according to them because i have not got QS on line it explains all problems,i tried telling them that if i use BT speedtester it shows i have QS on line but too no avail. So question is whats up and are they correct, strange because as i am writing this i am watching TV through the vision box.Confused i certainly am

My personal experience has always been that if you change anything to do with your BT account, they will screw up. If you keep getting the "BT Runaround" (tm) I heartily recommend emailing the ceo Ben, email available by searching this forum.

Good luck.

When you say watching TV do you mean freeview channel or paid for VoD content?

Scanning for the freeview channels suggests signal issue with respect to the TV aerial - does it show any signal strength indicators in the menus?

You can check the signal strength of each channel by pressing the big vision button and than settings, TV and DTT signal strength.
I had a similare issue and a hard reboot did the trick - sorry forgot how to do it as bt tech talked me through it.

Cheers for all the advice.Got in touch with Bt cs and they refered me back to THD,this where it gets interesting. vision help told me to reset to factory defaults, which for any interested is unplug power cord, then put power cord back in at the same time as hold the ok and down button on front of vision box, this causes a reboot which takes about 25 to 30 mins till you get the screen telling you to rescan channels.Word of warning doing this makes you lose all recorded progs.Right to get back on track nice lady said if this did not cure prob, give them ring back and engineer would call and try to sort it out. Before she left me i told her about my number change and she said strange as the number she had for my BB and vision were different i.e BB new number.vision old number and i should,nt be getting vision on old number. So on her advice got to ring customer service tues and inform them of this strange event.Whats the betting BB and Vision both go kaput.Wish me luck think i might need it.Sorry if this post is a bit War and Peace.
