BT Broadband Packages

[link to this post]

I've emailed BT about 3-4 times now asking to upgrade so that I can have an 832kbps upspeed, just like the packages BT wholesale provided all the other ISP's.

I've emailed and spokent to BT Retail, and they said they cant help me, try BT Business.
Tried BT Business, they said they cant help me either as they only provide 488kbps the same as retail.

There's no sdsl on my exchange.
BT would unlikely upgrade my exchange until 2014 to WBC

I would like someone from BT to explain why they wont supply a package which is available to me from BT Wholesale at my local exchange now, but not through BT Retail or BT Business, only accessable from reseller ISP.

The package from BT Wholesale you mention is Max DSL Premium, I am sure BT Business can provide this at extra cost, as far as I'm aware you need to be a business to get BT Business Total Broadband.

The 832k upload is designed for business's so you will only find it on business packages sometimes only the top packages as well. Whether you will be allowed a business product on a residential line is another matter.

Had a look at BT Business and their doesn't seem to be the option to order DSL premium. At the end of the day its up to the individual ISP to decide which products they supply, in this case BTR have decided not to offer DSL premium on any service.

I should also mention, as your looking at Business packages pricing by default is usually ex VAT as businesses can claim back VAT paid, so remember to add another 17.5% to the price.

You can get business products on a residential line - I already have it. They will however often require business details for the billing and from what others have experienced it can be a battle.
