BT home Hub manual

[link to this post]

Is there a full manual for the BT Home Hub 2.0 that I can download? I have read the user guide but it does not explain whether the router supports dynamic DNS, whether I can can change the IP addresses of my home network, or whether I can make a SIP VOIP call (using my mobile phone.)

The home hub supports Dynamic DNS services, cant remember which ones off the top of my head. Not sure what you mean about changing the IP addresses of your home network though.

As for SIP VOIP calls via your mobile, if your mobile phone has wireless and the correct software is installed e.g. Skype then yes it will work fine.

Just a quick note for information. Skype is not a SIP VoIP but has it's own protocols so will have to be set up differently from regular SIP VoIPs.

I have setup my mobile (Vodafone) and Voipfone (VoIP provider) and it does work but is a bit clunky.

If you are using a mobile 'phone how does this involve your Home Hub?

I mean that I would like to continue to use a 10.0.0.x network rather than change to a 192.168.1.x network which I assume that the HH uses.

To do this I would need to be able to change (or add) the IP address of the router's LAN port and amend the DHCP parameters.

On my Speedtouch 510 v4 I do this by downloading the ini file to a PC, changing it and then relloading it. The original version of the 510 v4 used a 10.0.0.x network thought this was changed in the latest (unsupported!) version of the software.

Nope that wont work. the 10.x.x.x is reserved for BT services.

My Nokia E65 can make VOIP calls using WiFi and Sipgate. I had enough trouble getting this to work at home via my Speedtough 510 v4 router (and FON wiFi router) let alone finding anywhere else where this was possible. (AIUI Skype does not use SIP. I believe that 3 have a version of Skype that runs on the E65.

Would you happen to know what services? It would only be a problem if I wanted to use them!

The HH uses the 10.XX etc range for The BT FON Hotspot thingy, handing out dhcp leases in that range. You cant use it at all.... probably the same if you are not opted in to it as well.
