Well... My mum is anyway lol

And so far the connection is better than UKFSN/ENTA

Speeds are a little faster and webpages load faster also.

Not used the HH yet but that will all be set up later tonight.

That was a truly pants explanation. A better one is that all HHs use the same username and password to connect, but the stuff that lets BT know who you are is tied into the phone number used to connect - that's why you can swap HHs about with gay abandon yet they still work.

In your last post, are you talking about Broadband Talk, or just normal phone calls?

802.11N - Like all wireless, range, speed and so on are "how long is a bit of string" questions, you'll get the best the kit can deliver, depending on local conditions and the kit itself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.11#802.11n isn't a bad technical explanation.

However, some people have mentioned that the HH2 isn't a great improvement over the earlier "g" versions' range, and some enterprising souls have modified the case to fit external antennas to improve the range of the wireless.

My own experience, using "g" only, is that the range is fractionally (a few feet) less in my house, but I do have massive stone walls splitting the house up, so it really only works well in one room!

Thats not that helpfull tbh...

if i asked what speed a "g" network would connect at (max speed) i would get told 54mb standard or 108/125Mb for MIMO

So what is the maximum wireless speed one could connect to the HH2 at?? 130mb? 200mb? its not a hard question. but i have not managed to find any info by googleing

This link will give you some information on "n".

http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/networking/0,1000000696,39284717,00.htm

Theoretically you could get 540Mbps but as for the speed of the HHv2 no idea.

ty all..

I have come across somthing very odd...

I have the HH set to use 802.11b/g/n and got a wireless n card in my bro's pc but it will connect at 78Mb most of the time but actuall toughput is only 1-2mb on speedtests... so i set the HH to b/g only and now its conected at the full 54mb and speedtests are as they should be at just under 7000Kbps.

So whats going on there? i thought the 802.11n has better speeds and coverage than 802.11a/b/g??

i think 802.11n have some major problems,. it is still in draft by the way.

A mate have a Belkin 802.11n and it knocks out all vodafones in the house if the router channel is set to manual.
If I try to connect the wireless part of my mobile phone to it, the router resets.

I know someone else who have a cisco 802.11n and that is useless, took ages to get it to connect, change it to 802.11g and it works ok.

We never got on too well with 802.11n here ended up going back to g as some devices just couldn't connect whatever and there was no difference in the max distance the signal could cover that we noticed.

130mbps is the highest speed the HH 2 can support via wireless. Wireless for me is a mixed bag really, I tried connecting my iMac using it and notice slow downs in connection speed and such. Pop back in the ethernet cable and all these problems have gone away. It's good for a laptop though :-)
