Problems with incoming mail to btinternet account

[link to this post]

Has anybody else had problems with incoming mail to BT accounts over the last couple of days? Emails to my btinternet.com address have been at best, delayed anywhere from 20 minutes to 24 hours, and at worst, haven't arrived at all, with the sender getting a bounce message along the lines of:

This is a delivery status notification, automatically generated by MTA
smtp2.******.com on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 14:34:49 +0100
Regarding recipient(s) : ************@btinternet.com
Delivery status : Delayed. None of the mail servers for the destination
domain has so far responded. (btinternet.com).
We have been attempting delivery for 5 times.
Maximum delivery tries attempted. Please contact your administrator to
contact the destination domain or resend your message. Delivery failed.
Message Information:
Sender : ************@******.com
Recipient : ************@btinternet.com

MTA Response :4.4.1
The original message headers are included as attachment.
and one of the attachments says:

Reporting-MTA: dns; smtp2.******.com

Final-Recipient: rfc822;************@btinternet.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 4.4.1 None of the mail servers for the destination domain has so far responded.
Action: delayed
Status: 4.0.0
and that was for an email sent 23 Feb at 13:33.

Outgoing emails seem fine, and if I email myself, it comes back immediately, so to my limited understanding it seems as if the problem is on the edge of BT rather than on the inside.

Their Service Status page doesn't mention anything current, although it appears that their dial-up users were having some issues with email last week, now allegedly resolved.

Before I go to the hassle of contacting them (which I haven't done before now, and don't really want to start), does anybody know anything about this and whether they're working on it? It's been going on since at least first thing Monday morning, and it's now Wednesday evening.

Many thanks,
AS.
