BT email after moving to a new ISP

[link to this post]

Does anyone know if /how long is before Bt emails : @btinternet.com stop working after moving to another ISP (but still keep a Bt landline and do not cancel any email account yourserlf)?.

I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up somewhere

Mine has lasted almost 2 years since my first migration. However a fortnight ago I recieved an email from BTB stating that I hadn't dialled in for at least 30 days and had another 60 days to dial in to keep it alive.

The funny thing is, I haven't dialled into a BT account since the days of BTOpenworld Anytime! laugh

So, in my case without purposely trying to keep the account open I've managed to make it last for quite a while. wink smile

At least when I left Zen they did it properly, closed after a fortnight once the migration was confirmed to be 100% complete.

90 days - unless you dial in on the 0845/0844 number when you get another 90 days (or 180 in reality). Mine has gone on for 7 years and I dial in once or twice a year and whereas the email is collected through Broadband, I have an email profile that accesses the various BTInternet addresses. 2p for 3/6/12 months service = good value!

I'm told that they can drop the email address after 60 days of non usage so I wouldn't risk it.

As I understand it, you can pay a nominal fee to BT to retain your POP3 email addresses. I did this when I went across to e7even for a couple of years and it worked well. It's not expensive - £1.75/month comes to mind.

Just call BTB Customer Services and they'll set it up for you. I seriously intend to move to O2 very soon to avoid BTs severe torrent throttling, so I'll be setting this up again.

Excuse my ignorance, dialing in to what? And 0845/0844XXXXXX, what number? I ve been on Broadband since 2001.
