Getting BT to Change SNR target

[link to this post]

My mate over in wales is having problems.

His line is currently at 2.8mb with a downstream snr of 16db and attenuation of 11db so he should get the full 8mb or just under.

But it seems his SNR target is set at 16db as he was having interference on the line witch has now been fixed by an engineer visit.

I have rang bt and so has my mate trying to get them to reset the snr target to 6/7db but they wont do it. Just blurt out about the problems on the line etc

Is there anyway he/we can get bt to sort this out so he gets a decent speed from his line?

Thanks

Good luck with that...

You might manage to get them to reset DLM if your persistant but thats about it.

They're fussy about changing it. E ven with evidence of a intermittant fault being fixed they refused to do sod all for me.

All sorted. SNR is down to 6db and the speed is up to 6.7mb. not bad for a 2 mile long line
