BT and Mail questions

I am trying to help a new BT BB user get sorted re his mail handling. I used to be on BT Broadband but left over 5 years ago. I am now on another BT owned ISP that does allow the following actions.

From what I gather the BT mail process is based on Yahoo Mail, how customised is it compared to regular Yahoo Mail.

Can a BT user get POP access to the mail so that they can auto redirect or forward their mail onto anther email address, or download it to a mail program such as Thunderbird.
