Yahoo Mail & verification

[link to this post]

I use my own domain name and wish to send emails with one of five different addresses. I set up the accounts in Outlook and everything worked perfectly until I changed my ISP to BTInternet. Then, I was forced by Yahoo Mail to 'verify' each address I did this, tested the result and they all worked.
A couple of days later I found that only one of the addresses was still working, the other four all gave the 553 error, as though I hadn't verified them. However, part of the system still believes they are verified so I cannot reverify them.
An hour and a half on the phone to Calcutta got no further than raising my blood pressure.
Does anyone have any ideas - preferably how to bypass Yahoo mail altogether and just have a straightforward pop3/smtp mail system with no bells and whistles?

David.

Which SMTP Server are you using for outgoing mail? Yahoo's?

Suggest you use BT's own SMTP Server instead, possibly checking with BT if it Requires Authentication and/or a different port when used to send non-BT mail.

P.S. I can use Orange's normal Port 25 server w/out any authentication to send mail from AOL, Tiscali and FreeUK addys w/out any trouble.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg BB

Good Morning David,

Did you manage to resolve this in the end? I only as as I also you my own domain name and have NO issues using my HOST's SMTP and POP3 details.

A couple of questions, if you have not already resolved this:

Who do you host the Domain with? Do you have an e-mail only or full hosting package? What type of BT Connection are you on Broadband (ADSL) or Dial-Up?

Regards,

CJT.
