BT Broadband Support - SNR / Noise Margin is too low

[link to this post]

hello,

I'm trying to get BT to increase my SNR from 3db to 6db but their support insists on going through some lengthy algorithm when I already know what the problem is. Does anyone who works for BT support browse these forums? If so please contact me or reply so I can get this done and get my internet stabalised.

Thanks!
Richard

humm well, after much passing the buck managed to speak to a nice lady in Phone Line support who ran a test on my line and apparently there is some low level fault which could be the source of the problem. Not convinced personally but they will fix that within 3 days and we will see.

If you are not having any issues with the snr where it is then i would not bother about it, the sync speed seems a little slow at 3db for the attenuation of 31db i have similar stats and get over 18mb sync,
the snr can be set to zero, providing the line isn't subject to interference/noise it would only enable a higher sync, if they increase it you will loose some download sync more than likely

There is clearly something not right with the connection speed. As has been said, it is extremely low for the attenuation, and would be even worse on a 6dB margin.

The upstream is even worse sync. It should be well over 1Mbps. (Unless the BT top speed is 1Mbps).

You don't actually say what the problem is that you know of. Unless just that the noise margin is low.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.
