That was a mobile phone mast cabinet I linked to, so the ones you have seen may or may not be FTTC

Fair enough, i did point out i just assumed they were FTTC, as they are sat next to current BT cabinets in most cases, like i said i may have assumed too much/little.

Handy to be near the BT kit as they probably rent/buy backhaul capacity from BT, or just use BT pairs to link to another location, e.g. Metro Ethernet over copper

Yeah i freely admit the cabinets may not be BT FTTC, i just assumed as they were next to existing ones. As has been pointed out maybe wrongly. I will try and remember to take photos if im in the area again.

One thing ive just realised is can you imagine in a few years with all these various cabinets an engineer from whatever company sitting there for 15 minutes trying to figure out why the key wont open it before they realise its not actually there cabinet laugh Looking at google images there already seems to be a fair few which look very similar to each other, i imagine in the future this will only get worse. Thinking about it you can imagine the comedy, though in practice i imagine it could be a nightmare (maybe different colours for each company will be needed?)

Fair point but unlikely to meet with a great deal of interest from your typical local authority team - I think many have a preference for standard colours in the street.

Usually enough clues if you look at the cabinet in terms of markings for engineers to figure it out.

Though complaints are on the increase about where the cabinets are located, many people don't want them.

I bet many of those same people would like fast broadband though - bit of NIMBYism perhaps?
