Nairn will indeed get FTTC at the end of this year with ADSL2+ to follow at the start of next.

Not possible - I'm pretty sure the FTTC technology requires the ADSL2+ infrastructure at the exchange. I've never heard of any exchange having FTTC first. Inverness, where I live, is about 15 miles from Nairn and has no RFS date for FTTC. It has a population of 56,660 as against Nairn's 8000 or so, so I would expect Inverness to be much higher up the list. *

* Except neither are on the list

Jaggies

It even says on the official BT Infinity website that Nairn are getting FTTC, so i'm pretty sure it is true.

Just think about Alness and Durness - they deserve FTTC ... BT's Business DSL support teams, first and second line for ADSL (all variants), VDSL, along with VOIP, email, ISDN and a few others are based there. The teams are talking about these wonderful services all day and cannot use them themselves!

Have you a link? Never mind, I've found it.

I'm still sceptical...

FTTC utilises the WBC backhaul for the BT Wholesale services, but as the cabinets are using fibre if a sensible ducting route exists then a cabinet need not connect back to the same exchange as the telephone lines it services.
