Anyone else noticed this?
Since our service was installed the maximum we received was about 27Mbit down and about 8.5Mbit up. Over the months this gradually edged down to about 23Mbit and the same 8.5Mbit.
Recently (not sure when exactly) our service has changed. We are now pushing close to 30Mbit download at the expense of upload which now seems be fixed to somewhere around 6Mbit. Our IP Profile is still 10000k up though but the modem suggests 6138kbit is the most attainable for our line.
Firmware versions are the same on the modem and hub as before. Essentially we've gained 5-6Mbit download at the expense of about 2Mbit upload speed.
Might this be a new profile for the service as a whole using different frequencies? I'm not too worried at losing a bit of upload for better download.

I don't think upload should decrease, but it is rumoured that 17a is creeping in. That could add to download.

Similar experience here.
Went from 34/8 consistently to around 39/5 but in last few days that seems to have gone to 39/8
So hopefully the 40 Mbps cap may be lifted at some point, perhaps they're (reasonably) going to get all the firmware upgrades out of the way, possibly adding backhaul and check things are stable before opening the floodgates
No idea if the sync is capped at 40 or if they've now allowed that to float and are just capping in IP

Been talking with asbokid (who did the unlocked firmware) and he thinks the 17a profile has been enabled.

What is 17a?

The faster profile for higher VDSL speeds. BT are enabling up to 80Mbit soon I believe.

The xdslcmd diagnostic tool in the Huawei firmware has an info option that will confirm that you are now on 17a Profile....

Ah yes, the OpenReach engineer who came to look at my speed issues last month mentioned that this was on the horizon, he thought it'd happen in the new year.

Probably why they're "setting it up" now so that when the service is offered people can use it straight away

Seems so...

my profile would appear to have changed but only a small bit, upload is unchanged, download is up to 32 now from 29ish

I was away last week, so couldn't check then. However, it looks like we had a change at the beginning of this week:
- Latency dropped from 19ms to 10ms, suggesting interleaving got turned off.
- IP Profile is now 38716 - but was 34799, or slightly lower
- Actual download speed now 37.5Mbps, but was 33.5Mbps (on speedtest.net)
- No change in upload profile or speed - profile of 10000, speeds of 8.2Mbps.
My first 2 days (back in June) had the full profile speed, and low latency, but with 4% packet loss. DLM increased latency & dropped speed to fix this... but we now seem to be back on full whack.
It could be that someone fixed our line (at 650m, it should have been able to handle full speed), or it could be that 17a got turned on here. I'll assume the latter - but I really will have to get around to flashing the modem to find out!

I just posted about this on the Fibre forum, but essentially the answer is yes: new profile *and* different frequencies.
BT's switch to profile 17a also seems to include a switch from bandplan 997 to bandplan 998.
The differences are that:
- In the existing frequencies (under 7MHz), around 0.6MHz is swapped from upstream to downstream
- The first 1.5MHz of the new frequency allocation (above 7MHz) is given to downstream; if they stuck with 997, it would have gone to upstream.
Your experience suggests you've experienced changes because of both parts, but that you then haven't gained much from the additional upstream (8.5MHz - 12MHz) or the higher downstream (12MHz - 17MHz)
