Slow BT network

[link to this post]

Getting very slow response from some sites, whilst others are ok

Oddly this forum is quick whilst BT's own discussion forums are slow.
BBC is fine, but speedtest.net is slow>

Looks like it may be a core issue in the network. Now reported on the status page http://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/service_status_co...

Hey,

There's a nationwide problem ... not just BT ... for further details at

http://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/service_status

Not much help, but it will atleast be updated when the problem is fixed.

Yep, I noticed it too. Good to know it is not anything local to me or my line though. Can't get speedtest.net to even load at the moment, where as the uSwitch speedtest ran at fullspeed.

From the BT forums ...

The India call centre estimates the fix will take 4-72 hours. (Yup, 3 days maybe)

noticed it from about 16:00 today. I too thought it was my end and did the reboots etc but also had probs from my phone on 3g. I used an external site http://just-ping.com to do some testing and it showed it was fine outside of the uk.

All seems to have been fixed now. The BT forum site had users from all over the UK saying what had gone wrong, so from this we could glean it was quite a major outage. Now, the same folk, plus a few other geographically spread report that alls well that ends well.

Lots of Openreach Activity around Stourport. Many new local cabinets. I just looked at my speed test history. My best result is still from 2007 for all that activity!
