Is your 16-20Mbps your actual connection speed, or just a speed test result done wirelessly?
The reason I ask is that unless you are connecting at, or very close to, 40Mbps now you would see no difference at all in the downstream. You may see a little on the upstream if you are achieving 9999Mbps on that.
Doesn't the Home Hub tell you your connection speeds somewhere? If not, another way to find your connection speed is to run the
BT Wholesale Performance Test, (ignoring the red instructions - just tick you've done them), then on the results page click
Further diagnostics near the bottom.
Copy and paste the full contents of the down and up results text boxes and we can tell you your downstream connection speed. We don't need to see the fancy graphics.
This is all assuming you have optimised home phone wiring - was it an engineer install at the master socket, or a DIY job where they just sent you a Home Hub and a filter?
