As of a few days ago it looks like I'm now syncing at 55Mbit.
Anyone else been automatically upgraded?
Speed tests coming in at 52/53.

Hi I enquired about this speed increase a while back and I put it on hold because the lady from customer services said that I could get the extra speed but would have to agree to a new contract which I do not want to do with BT did you have to agree to a new contract ?
Cheers

It's worth seeing the price for a new contract. I recontracted to get 55Mbps but it's only £10 per month so considerably cheaper than if I'd been upgraded without recontracting.

Nope, didn't recontract - still paying same discounted rate.
Router just rebooted one night and the sync had increased. To be honest the speed update (at least for us) hasn't really made much difference. Speed tests now coming out at 50/51 instead of 38/39.

Hi that sounds about what is normal for BT customer services they are not all singing from the same sheet she definitely said I would have to sign up to a new contract what a shower comes to something when cust. services don't give out the correct info.

Update as of 12.midday today received e-mail from BT telling me my Infinity broadband will be upgraded to 52 meg automatically and we will let you know when it,s done they say ,will see what happens

Yes, I was upgraded at 11:50 today.
No email from BT telling me and I hadn't agreed to a contract extension.
So looks like the free upgrades are starting now..

BT have always said that Infinity 1 users would be upgraded over the summer - but if you wanted to jump the queue then you had to a contact extension and they would then do it ASAP

Yes, I got the same deal via the link in the email about the price rises. Price rise actually meant price cut.

I'm not expecting mine to change before July 3rd, as per the email I got

Not sure about all BT customer services singing from the same hymn sheet. In my case they seem to have reprinted it! I had an e-mail advising of the July price increases but linked me to special offers. One was to have Infinity 1 for less than I have been paying. Looked at the link again last week and the offer on Infinity 1 had disappeared and there is now just an offer on Infinity 2 which I don't want.
I'll try calling customer services next week and see what I can get out of them.
No sign of any increase in speed on Infinity 1 as yet.

Yes, a few days ago.

I did not get a date for the change in the e-mail so I assumed it would be done more or less straight away not some weeks later, I will just wait for early July like you and see what happens .

After about an hour I finally spoke to someone at BT who was in the UK. We had an argument about the offer in the e-mail which I was assured was only good for two weeks from the receipt of the e-mail although it did actually say it was available until 2nd July. They looked up the e-mail and couldn't very well argue about it so came up with an offer which will see me paying less for my broadband than at present even after the price increase next month. I was also told that it would be upgraded to 58 Mbps by midnight tomorrow so the upgrade evidently isn't automatic.

58?
It isn't automatic, but it is a product change order to Openreach. The "automatic ones" are where an ISP puts in a bulk order for OR to do when convenient, so they get the job done cheaper. Yours will be a single line at full OR price. Though BT Consumer may have a major customer discount on that as well.
