Price Increase?

Was considering ordering Infinity 2 and the monthly price is now £32.50?

Seems to be, time to check out well known cashback sites if you want to reduce the cost for the first contract term.

If you are keen on BT would Infinity1 with the new increased download speed (up to) not do, it's also a good bit cheaper.

Problem is I work from home, wife is a professional blogger and the kids stream Netflix so not sure the new Infinity 1 will cope at our family peak time.

I did think about it though...

If you can get the max of 55meg sync, that's a HELL of a lot of bandwidth. Even if the kids were streaming 2 UHD Netflix streams there'd still be about 20meg "left" over.

The issue I have with plusnet is the 18 month contract. Whilst cheaper I am locked in for an additional 6 months.

To be honest not quite sure at the moment:

Sky
BT
plusnet

in that order at the moment. Do BT require you to use their smart hub like Sky do?

No, but they ask you to connect it when you have a fault on your line so they can do their remote tests.

Interesting.

I'm offered £15 for 24 months. I'm currently paying £10 for 55/10 and have 10 months remaining.

Yeah it is a bit odd, following one link I can still get it for £30 a month. Through bt.com it is £32.50.

Hey ho, for £30 a month I might as well go with Sky...

I feel 55Mbps would be an overkill for the majority of homes. Are you sure it's worth £20pm premium for the extra speed?

On the same deal as you and getting the same offer for Infinity 2. I'd probably only get another 10Mb out of my line and don't really need it. So will stay with my 55Mb Infinity 1.

check prices from other suppliers (ie SSE, Sky, talktalk etc, plus bT new customer deals/cashback)...work out the effective monthly cost. Each year I've called in armed with this and got within ~£5 of the best deal. May take more than one call. This year it was £10/month for Infinity 1 unlimited plus of course line rental.

Yeah I did ring Sky and was told to call back in two weeks when the new deals would be released.

Very few people seem to do deals on 80/20, especially Sky.

BT would be fine except for the horror stories you hear about.

Nothing against Pulse8 they have been great but with calls it is costing me £60 a month. I guess if I want reliable and quick CS will be paying a premium!
