G.fast was available for order / now not.

[link to this post]

Hi,
G.Fast was available for me to upgrade to within my BT account to long ago, however when I check now the option does not display.

When I have checked the DSLChecker it states G.Fast availability is Amber. Is it likely my cab cannot support anymore G.fast orders and this is likely to be the same for a very long time until someone disconnects? or will they add additional capacity maybe?

Amber is just a way of saying caution, until we have activated your line take the G.fast estimates with a low level of confidence.

An order for the 160 Mbps G.fast service should still be possible

If your estimates are in the low 100 Mbps region its possible BT Consumer don't think its worth trying to order now.

If this was a capacity issue (unlikely) it would say waiting list.

The thing is at one point I had the option to upgrade to 300mb down. Super fast. They even sent me a letter asking if I wanted to. My line length is about 100 meter from memory when checking line stats years ago. Just donít see why inside the BT portal I had the option to upgrade to super fast and they sent me the letter to have this service and now itís not showing available.

If there is an issue with G.fast pod they may remove it from availability

I think they became more cautious from experience. The way Ofcom require them to advertise they don't want lots of people on the top package that can't get those speeds so for Amber they will allow the lower package and if it all works well it may change to allow the top package later.

This is all from memory but I believe that has been what has been happening.

If that was the case it would not say Amber

The option to upgrade past the ususal Super-fast 76mb down broadband from BT is not available. 160 or 300.

Hope this is the case, speaking to BTBroadband they cant offer an explanation, so not sure who to ask now they don't know.
