upgrade asks for btinternet.com email address?

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade to BT Total Broadband through bt.com/btbroadband, but as I'm an existing customer the page insists on me entering my @btinternet.com or @btopenworld.com email address. But I have never used BT for my email, and even checking back through the welcome emails I recieved when first signing up with BT Broadband, there's no mention of these details!

If I don't tick the 'existing customer' box it starts talking about free connection etc. so I'm worried they'll mess up and cut me off for a while, then reconnect me as a new customer...

Does anyone know if it's possible to get round this, or what those details could be?

Normally there is an e-mail address given on your welcoming letter. Do you go onto Yahoo to check your account if you do that is the e-mail they require

I'm guessing you are on BT Broadband Classic. What does it say on your bill?

There is a slight issue with people on this package - certainly with upgrade from a fixed speed line i.e 512kb, 1Mb or 2Mb to Max, in that BT have to upgrade you to a standard BT Yahoo! package. It's a kind of seamless 2 stage upgrade.

If you are on BT Broadband Classic (should say something like classic or legacy on the bill), then the only way to upgrade is to do it by phone. Well that's what I was advised when I spoke to Order Management

You may not use BT email address BUT you will have one !!

Your email address is the name you gave for your account when you signed up for BT BB followed by either btinternet or btopenworld.com !!

If it is not listed (which it should be) on the paperwork then I would say you will need to call BT (I think you will need BB sales team but aint sure) to upgrade !!

I think you should really be talking to BT sales about this.
