the stats my router page gives me are as follows:

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 6272 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 22.0 dB
Line Attenuation 44.0 dB 25.0 dB

yes, I am connected at 5.2 and I am getting download speeds of 800k which is just a tad slower than what is called 1MB broadband.

Are you in the 10day test or has this been going for ages? , ive read alot of posts where some people have had the bras profile stuck on 2meg which may indicate your problem..

-
Most customers do seem to find that their line has a Data Rate profiled at the bRAS within 3 days, although its not uncommon for some users to find that they have been profiled at 2Mb speeds for anything up to the full 10 days.
-
Personal observations tend to show that it is the better lines that seem to have a delay in setting the Data Rate on the bRAS profile and are "stuck" with their old 2Mb speed possibly because their SNR is better and they suffer from fewer fluctuations, therefore it takes longer for the kit to realise that a change has occurred.

ive had it for about 6 weeks now!!! when i spoke to someone on the phone, she claims it is fine, that throught put for that speed is sufficient!! not sure how i should habdle this, in my opinion if im connected at 6.2mbps, i should be getting faster download speeds than that

You should try 30kb/s for 3 months on a 4mbit line and dealing with bt india like 6 times a day

Though joking aside 6 weeks sucks , my only advice would be to phone [censored] bt india and request to speak to a uk person or say you wish to complain. Though btw i know how you feel
it has taken me 3months to get where i am today and thats alot of phone calls, complaints and so
on.

Just tell them that you have been at these speeds for nigh on 6 weeks and nobody is dealing with it and that you wish to speak to someone in the uk... Sometimes you just have to be forceful
and say what you need to say. If nothing comes of that, then it maybe wise to post in the newsgroups bt.broadband.support and request help from support but that can be as useless as bt india.

Your stats look very good to me!

Dont give up and keep being a pain and demand to speak to someone in the uk

Hope you don't mind me asking about my connection too! I'm synchronised at 7616 kbits/ps but I'm only getting about 3500kilobits/ps. When I first signed up for max I was told that I would get about 6.5mbps but it's never been anything like that, although I was getting between 4.5-5.5mbps until about 3 weeks ago. Even last night support in India were telling me that my line is excellent but they're not willing to raise this with faults for another week to 10 days. My stats from my hub are-

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 7,616

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 11.0 / 19.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 23.0 / 6.5

How does this look? Should I be getting a better speed? Is there anything I can do with the DMT speedtouch tool to improve my connection?

Thanks for any advice.

im on phone to him tech support now, basically told me that as my line test was above the fault threshold rate he could not do anything, i told him what the BRAS profile was, and he again told me there was nothing he could do

Well im jealous of your line

Yes you should be getting better speeds , i dont believe DMT tool will help you with your speeds only your sync rates , here check this below sync rate on left = speeds on right

5120 kbps Up to 4.5 Mbps
5696 kbps Up to 5 Mbps
6240 kbps Up to 5.5 Mbps
6816 kbps Up to 6 Mbps
7392 kbps Up to 6.5 Mbps
7968 kbps Up to 7 Mbps

Hmmm perhaps you could force a higher sync rate through dmt tool and the exchange might detect it?. Ive heard of some people putting extra extensions on the line and or constant disconnections to force a lower sync rate which then kicks in the bras profile to detect this lower sync rate. But because the download speed was much lower before hand even with a higher sync rate this lower sync rate has caused an increase in download speed. LOL does that make any sense?
