BT Yahoo query

[link to this post]

Enquiring for a friend. For a customer who originally signed up for BT Yahoo's lowest capped package in the new year (can't remember if it's 1mb or 2mb cap), is it possible to upgrade to a higher monthly cap without being tied into a new 12 month contract? Please could someone explain the implications of the new Total broadband service for existing Yahoo customers as the BT site does not seem to make it clear at all.

Anyone? Just an answer to the question about upgrading to a higher cap will do!

not sure myself but would also like to know.

i suspect people like your friend, and people like me still on the old BTB 1mbit fixed circuits will get lumped with a new contract should we go looking to upgrade to total.

Wonder what would happen if the monthly cap was exceeded, they would surely insist you upgraded to a higher cap, but it would be completely unfair to impose a new 12 month contract, given the upgrade is entirely a computer based admin procedure.

"*** We will automatically end your existing contract and replace it with a new 12 month contract starting from the date of your regrade or upgrade. " seems fairly black and white.

It would seem so, it just seems quite unfair for those who don't require this total service business and are just using more than their monthly allowance.

Presumably if you exceed the allowance you will be told "upgrade to a higher package and a new 12 month contract or we cancel the account"?

At one point BT were throwing heavy users off by either making them pay for the excess bandwith or allowing users to migrate away from the service even if you were still in the 12 month contract period.

Since "MAX" came in, and users shifted onto telephone bill payment - it seems as though they will simply warn you of overusage and if you do it again then you'll be charged
