[link to this post]

Well after yet another 3 hours on the phone to BT, using every number i could find to contact them.

Then finally getting through to some nice lady i eventually have now got a geographical number for my Broadband Voice.

I've got shut of that 0560 148 ???? number and got a very nice 0151 number.

It's great.

Jeff

Which number finally got you through to someone who could help?

I too would love to get a local number as many people see 0560 xxx xxxx and assume it's a call centre calling.

I'm in the Liverpool exchange of 0151 so getting one of these numbers was a slight bonus however any 01 or 02 number would of been ok so those people calling me would not be paying the higher costs that come with 0560 numbers.
I do actually use my BT Talk number as a 2nd line. And belive me with 2 kids it gets used quite a lot.

I started off calling 0800 800 150 and finally moved on to 0800 028 3228 option 9 when eventually i did get some lady who knew her stuff.

She cancelled my 0560 number and account and within 2 hours i was able to re-register again for BT talk and choose the option to have a geographical number.

To be honest it went mega easy.

Jeff

I've just called 0800 028 3228 and although the woman I spoke to didn't know how to do it she went away and found out for me. After about five minutes she told me that they would cancel the existing account and re-order it with a local number without me having to do anything else.

She did say it could take up to 24 hours so I'll report back tomorrow.

All in all, vey easy and they were very friendly all the way.

All mine was setup in about three hours in the end, so not as fast as yours but I'm not complaining as it was still a lot easier (and faster) than I expected :-)
