Another typical BT problem

Geez - that toolbox of hub is utterly slow! Took ages and ages to type in ports number etc then it 'crashed' and all data were lost.

What a [censored] of hardware it is! ARGH!

Well my home hub died earlier today twice in fact. Called THD and got nowhere!

Sorry to hear that - Luckily I still have old fashioned wired broadband modem here on my desk. Hope you still have it too.

Now BF2 is playing up cos of that - I'd not add anymore ports due to hub's stability.

EDIT : Now I'm using old fashioned modem for now until December cos I've had enough with hub. Hopefully this December update which is rumoured will improve a lot of things - If not, then goodbye BT for good.

Honestly I feel a lot less stressed when using this old fashioned modem!

Yup got a trusty Intel Anypoint 3240 ADSL modem. Never let me down in 4 years. Still gets great speeds with max as well.

get a Belkin F5D7633-4A ,never had any problems and superior speed.

Will get third party wireless router after xmas ( if that bt update is still no good)- I played BF2 tonight with old fashioned modem - was beautiful and smooth unlike frigging hub!

I deleted LOADS of the pre-filled games and applications that were in that huge list in the Games and Application Sharing section and all the browsing of the hub pages are super-fast. Not one is slow anymore.

Before, they used to take annoyingly long to load a page and save settings. So remove all that you don't need and there will be a big speed increase in browsing the pages. I have very few in the list now, and will just add manually or use UPnP when available.

Some pages actually load the games and apps list in a drop-down menu at the bottom of the page your on (like client settings), and it takes ages for it to populate that). So remove all that you can.

used plenty of hardware over the years and nothing has ever really outperformed the venerable little voyager 100. believe it or not!

used zoom x4 - bit shaky and died after the firmware screwed up (replacement also died the same way)
speedtouch 510 - very reliable and solid connections but finally overheated (them smarty pants at thomson decided vents are best placed on the bottom of the router casing, well done chaps)
zoom x5 - bit better than its predecessor in that it still works fine
netgear dg834gt - currently using it and it seems a very nice router so far. doesnt crash and seems quite solid. wireless range isn't that good but it works.
voyager 100 - always did the job solidly and have some nice hidden diagnostic tools.

Well I like my Linksys WAG354G, yes it has it's sort comings but it has never let me down. For a USB modem in my book you cannot beat a good old Intel Anyport 3240. It may be 4 years old and BT business support who originally provided it say against using it, but it gives no better performance than any router I have used. This is also on an extension which a router was giving worse performance than it. So it just goes to show, why change something that works.

is it a good router? Good for gaming? Cheapest I'd find.
