Check my DSL Connection please???

[link to this post]

Can anybody with the knowledge advise me on my DSL connection - report below?
BT Homehub - still with the 'R' firmware. Hub is on an extension line not on the 'bell' wire.
Anything in the report below I should watch out for ie. SNR, what about the Errors towards the end of the report?
Can anyone explain what the readings are - I'm sure that this would help loads of other users?

Many thanks in advance!

Looks OK to me. The SN Margin is very good. But run a speed test here and tell me what you get: http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

Is your connection stable?

Low attenuation, could go faster imho. Are you sure you have the bellwire disconnected?

Thanks for the post in reply.

Just did the speed test
2725 upload
364 download

Connection is very stable - hub running for at least 14 days previously.

Also - in reply to the other poster - have not disconnected the bell wire - what i meant was that the hub isn't connected directly to the main house socket nor the hidden socket in the main socket (you know the one I mean!) but to an extension socket about 10m from the main.

At a sync of 3968 kbps, you should really get a speed test speed (throughput speed) closer to that. It's not bad but like RandomJointer said, it could be faster.

Have you experienced any recent disconnections/reconnections?

By the way, you got the upload and download figures the wrong way round there but the upload of 364 kbps is fine.

Again thanks for the replies - sorry about the typo - up/download are the other way around!

Can anybody explain the errors shown :
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 53,858

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 71

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 66

FEC Down seems huge - any concerns here?

Thanks again.

those sorts of errors are common with lines that have lowish SNR like yours. You shouldn't worry overly about them as you say the line is stable and you get decent enough speed from it.

I'd suggest, if possible, that you connect your router directly to the master socket or buy a filtered faceplate and install it on your master socket thus negating the need for dongle filters on each extension. Many people have reported this raises the SNR by around 5-10dB and that could get you an increased sync rate and some more stability (less errors)

orly?! ya rly!
