Why can't I access the BT Speedtester?

Hi,

I cannot seem to access the BT Speedtester site at all using my BT Total Broadband connection. I always get the message

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at speedtester.bt.com.

I have tried changing the login on my BT Home Hub to the speedtest one and then I can access the site but after I input my phone number, the site tells me this:

Test Error
You appear to be logged in as speedtest@speedtest_domain, however for the initial performance test can you please not use a BT test account or the Speedtester login. Please reconfigure your service to use your normal DSL account. If you are unsure how to do this or think this message is in error, please contact your service provider for advice.

Please wait while you are redirected.

But if I use my normal DSL login, then I can't access the site at all!

Can anyone shed any light?

Strange sounds like DNS trouble.

Try either of this links for it and see if it works:

Or try our privileged, limited edition CentralPlus speedtester.

I get exactly the same - I've been with BT Broadband for the past 3 weeks and I've never been able to get to the speedtester site.

This wasn't a problem with my old Zen connection.

I've tried the IP addresses that Paul provided, along with the BTCentral link but none work.....

Thanks Paul and Random. Can't access those either!

Wise - Glad to know I'm not alone here! I wonder if BT are deliberately preventing us from accessing it?

BT wont be stopping you. Only thing you can do now is to contact tech help telling them that you cannot access the BT speedtester site. I can provide UK number via PM if you wish.
