BT migration problem

[link to this post]

Hi, I am having a bit of a problem, I migrated over 2 weeks ago from a fixed 512k Tiscali line as we were having problems with Tiscali and their billing processes to BT business broadband option 2.

Now I have been told my line has been regraded but the throughput speed is still the same as the Tiscali line. I have tried logging the call with bt but they are being stubborn and saying that over 400kbps is "within range" and they won't log it as a fault.

The bt speed tester results are as follows

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 64 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3488 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 544 kbps

its not a bundled line or anything like that?

I can't think where the problem lies and any help would be grateful as its not worth being on the faster speed and the fact that it actually costs more than my previous tiscali account but no more throughput. its the same if I run the speed test first time in the morning or last thing at night
Thanks

Chris

In reply to:

64 kbps(UP-STREAM)

Something very wrong there. Check your kit with a chums modem and if India won't help, the CEO usually does.

Ok, Checked all my kit and took off the phone socket faceplate, removed the microfilter and just used a wire from the socket to the router

Rebooted the router and it synced at 8meg and 448kbps upload rate, the thoughput is back so it must have been a problem with the faceplate or the microfilter.

Thanks for everyone who has put so much information on this board as otherwise I would not have known what to check.
