BT Broadband's potential IP address range?

[link to this post]

My hosting provider has implemented a block on FTP from Europe/Asia as they have been attacked recently.

They are able to unblock specific IP addresses, but as the broadband one is dynamic I get a new one every time I connect, which makes it impossible for me to FTP to my hosting service.

They have said they could also unblock the BT range of addresses, but have asked what range this would be - does anyone know of a definitive list of BT Broadband's IP address ranges?

Why do you disconnect and reconnect? If you stay connected you will retain the IP address until you disconnect or lose the connection in some other way.

The OP may not want to leave his router on overnight.

Thanks, I think the 86 range appears to be the main one that I connect to, by looking back at my speed test results, the vast majority of which are acutally 86.131.* - I have sent them the range: 86.128.0.0 - 86.135.255.255, that I managed to get from an RIPE Whois lookup.

Yes, I switch off the router. I only use broadband a couple of hours in the evening during the week - there's no point it being on the other 22 hours of each and every day!

Safer from a security standpoint (can't get a more secure wireless network ), plus everything is connected into one power switch (monitor, PC, router, printers, scanner etc.), so when I've finished it all gets switched off. Saves that trickle of 'standby' electricity (save the planet and all that), and it's less of a fire hazard (small though that may be, it wouldn't be the first power supply I've seen go up in smoke!)
