Help bt india are useless

[link to this post]

Rang bt up a few weeks ago because my connection is disconnecting constantly, after several calls to bt india and going through the script i finally managed to get put through to a uk call center and they did the usual line checks and nothing was wrong so they sent out a engineer which came last week.. stayed 10minutes tested the line and said its fine but did say that my voyager 210 could be the problem because its overheating.. anyway the next day bt uk rang up and said they was sending out a new router and it should be with us within 4 days, its now been a week, so decided to ring bt up again but the number bt uk gave is no longer working so its off to india again and well they have no records of a router being sent out.. they then attempted to go through the script which at that point i stopped them and simply asked are you sending us another router, they replied saying how long have you had it.. i said just over a year, they then said the warrenty had run out and that i will have to pay for a new one at this point i'm fumimg and told them i wanted to speak with a uk call center which they would not do and said call the sales department then hung up. Well i'm really red in the face now, so currenty i'm in a very long que and hoping i speak to someone who has a working brain.

In reply to:

I hate to say it but it sounds like you've been fobbed off by the engineer. Routers / Modems will get warm or even hot to the touch but won't drop a disconnection for this reason. If anything when computer electronics get too hot they'll usually freeze or just 'let go' (in other words stop working completely).

If you really want to speak to someone in the UK (and trust me you do! ) then an option is to call up 'broadband sales' I think via 150 and get them to put you through to the right department by telling them that an engineer had put one on order for you. I believe at one point "sales" used to be a UK call centre and still is (unless that has gone to bangalore too).

Might actually be quicker to purchase a new modem / router yourself from somewhere like http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk or even a trip into (horror) PC World.

Well eventually got through to a uk tech center and they said they would send out a new router.. so i thought :/ bt india rang up earlier and said our router's warrenty has run out. *WHAT WARRENTY!!* after telling them that i need a new router for FREE because i can't afford a new router at this time they kept saying the warrety has run out so i basically gave up and told them to stuff the router where the sun don't shine and i'll be emailing the ceo's office and they will probably be loosing me as a customer after 4 years with them without any major problems.

With all the rain/floods in my area at the moment my connection has stayed online for some time which i wasnt expecting 12 hours.

Well just as i said that my connection has dropped. DAMN IT

I emailed the ceo and he replied saying he would look into this and passed it on to assistant who then rang me today saying he was sorry about all the trouble caused and that he contacted bt technical support and demanded they send me a new router.. he said he would try and get it shipped out tommorrow but due to the flooding in my area it may take abit of time.

Yups and the postal workers think this will give them a pay rise, yup after royal mail start losing contracts left right and centre because of the strikes!

Is it just me or am I having deja vu with Ford workers???

It occurs to me that, if the BT Retail Customer Support were located in the UK rather than in India, the people on it might be joining in with the Postal Workers. How do people who protest so much about the perceived uselessness of the people in India feel about that, I wonder.
