another problem 1 week after everything was fixed

[link to this post]

if you guys can remember i was having problems with my router restarting like 20 times a day and i couldnt upgrade the firmware and slow speeds because of a thunder storm.
after i got a uk call center number it was fixed in 2 days, my speed went back up to 3.5 like it used to be and they sent a router out last thursday.
on friday my router upgraded and i didnt have any problems so i rang them up and said that my router is now working fine so should i sent the new one back to you? and he said no you may aswel use the new one incase you get problems with the old one again.

today the router came and i installed it around 6pm, left it for an hour like it says in the manual so it can get the best speed.
after an houri finish off the installation and test the speed. my speed has gone down from 3.5 to 2.6 and the ip profile has gone down from 3700 to 3000.
so i ring them up and they say it is probably because you installed it in the evening when the internet is used the most so it picked a lower speed. i said is there anything they can do to get it back up and he said not unless my speed goes below 1.5 then they will see it as a problem. he also said i shouldnt have installed the new router at busy times. (how the hell was i supposed to know?)

is there anyway i can get my speed back up to normal?
did it really go low because i installed the router on the busy time?

The experts will soon tell you but I shouldn't think it will have helped.

i just looked on my home hub settings and the downstream is 1500 kbps higher than what it used to be on my old router but the speed is still slower, weird

anyway reseting the homehub work? or restoring factory settings? or just turning the router off at the mains?

ok i shouldnt of turned my router off

IP profile for your line is - 3000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3840 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2018 kbps

my downstream has gone down from 6400 to 3840 and speed from 2.7 to 2.0

could the problem be what the tech guy said?
that i installed it at a busy time so i get a constant slow speed?
or will it change after a couple of days because its a new router?
my downstream is back up to 5500 after i turned it off but the speed is still slow

Speeds will be slow for 4 days. Then your profile will raise.
