Beyond a joke!

[link to this post]

BT are beyond a joke now! For the last few months (and yes i really do mean months) my connection has NEVER been any faster than about 50KB/s (so about 400kbps) dispite when i first signed up gettings in excess of 400KB/s. I still have 6 months to go on this blinkin contract but I have just about had it with these speeds. Is there anything I can do? Ive tried everything. Rebooting the home hub, Factory reset of the home hub. (got a new computer the other week there so it wasnt my hardware at fault). Dont download torrents so wont be that. I used to play games like counterstrike but wouldnt dare on using it on this connection. Think Zen is the way to go. My work use them for internet and phone services (they are onto voip) and the boss has it at home. If i cancel do i have to pay the rental or is there some sort of set fee? (like the connection fee in the olden days)

Hi.

I had exactly the same. I was limited to 50kbps all weekends and also weekdays after 5 pm. I also tried everything, but nothing helped and BT technical support were more than hopeless.
I decided to leave BT and last week was activated with my new ISP.
I now have a rock solid connection, lower pings and I download at 843kbps instead of 50kbps.
I also never used torrents at all, which is why I was so annoyed. BT are not just capping heavy users.

I suggest you complain to BT and ask to get out of you're contract. If they disagree, complain to the ISPA.
