I would have went with Zen, but at the time I checked just over a month ago since I migrated. Zen said during peak hours I would have been put down to 2Mb from 4Mb.

I believe you're talking about this?

"- It is likely that speeds no greater than 2Mb will be achieved at peak usage times."

If so, then basically it doesn't mean that you're capped at 2Mb in peak time, more that if it's peak time and the network is extremely busy then you're going to see speeds "Up to" a maximum of 2Mb in peak hours.

If you have the Office Max products then you're going to see speeds "Up To" 4Mb in peak times due to paying extra for traffic Prioritisation.

Although in reality, at the moment the network has excellent capacity!

There are in excess of 3 million BT Broadband users. How many complaining on these forums. A drop in the Ocean

I could live with that, just not the way it is now, stuck at 1.5 to 2Mb supposedly, 24/7.

Though as I said earlier the problem lies at the exchange. I have no guarantee that changing ISP again would put me on 4Mb. Considering the one I'm on at the moment said I'll get 4Mb (which they are currently chasing up). It would be a real stinker once my 3 month contract is up and go to Zen to find out that I'm still not above 2Mb because BT wont up my line in the exchange.

At least I don't have to go through silly web browser testings and deleting web browser cache/cookies or plugging in micro filter responses from BT's India tech support and be on the phone for hours. Like in the past.
The new ISP is intelligent and treats me with respect, but sadly they have to go through BT Wholesale as well to resolve things instead of me. Hardly waiting 10 seconds and I'm through to someone and off the phone within 5 - 8 minutes. It just feels I get nowhere because of BT still has a hold on me at the exchange.

I try to get away from BT as a ISP, yet they still get me at the exchange. It really sucks for me, and it doesn't matter who I complain to nothing seems to make a permanent solution. Which I'll need to wait 24 - 48 hours before they get back to me.

Ah - another friendly post

For your info I was downloading approx 500kb last night at approx 8pm. I've no doubt that some people are being throttled - but I am not and never have been.

so what you are saying is that you acknowledge that people are having problems but that doesn't matter because your connection is fine? nice logic.

what about my other point about giving the user choice? why not offer monthly contracts? surely if the service is that good, bt have nothing to lose as people will have no reason to leave them. i'd much rather fork out

If people dont like contracts then they should stay away from BT. There's no use sigining up and then whinging about it afterwards.

talk about missing the point. there wouldn't be a problem if the service was good. but many people aren't going to find that out until it's too late.

No-one seems to have covered this so here we go

The online checkers and 'tests' the provider says will be done will do nothing to limit your speed under Max, so long as the provider lets you place the order BT Wholesale will enable a Max service, and the speed is determined once the ADSL modem connects and starts working.

In short if the checker says 0.5Mbps under Max, but you know the line should run at 5.5Mbps (i.e. it has done before) then so long as the various line variables have not changed you should get the 5.5Mbps again.

Why do you people have to be so abusive. I was not bought out I chose to accept a negotiated offer. If they fall down on there service to me, I will take it high and get some action. As I have done before.
