Bt Speed Issue/problem?

[link to this post]

Firstly I am no Techie but have picked up quite a lot of info, Mainly on this forum.

Yesterday my Vision Box was replaced as the other box was Faulty. Great worked fine. This is connected to a Voyager 2500v, which also works well with it a I do not use On Demand.

Before the box change Downstream SNR was 4/5 speed down 4800 profile 5000 Sync Rate 6000+

After the box change. Downstream SNR was 9 speed Down 4000 profile 5000 Sync rate 4896

That to me does not add up, as the sync rate is below the profile.

Fool that I am, rang BT Tech support to test them out and get a view.

After 45 minutes. They say
1. Not on Training Mode(Mmm)
2. Ran through all the usual checks(Yawn)
3. They say there is a line fault and have escalated it. (MMMM again)

I know my speed loss is not exceptional, I would just like to know why.
I tried The Dmt tool to lower my SNR to 4/5 and speed returned to 4800/4900 downstrem. Resynced at 6000.

Can any of you good knowledgeable Experts please post a view on this as I am confused. Sorry this was so long, did not know easy way to get it over

What DMT tool do you use? I tried one downloaded from dmt.mhilfe.de and it had an error trying to access my Home Hub.

I am afraid none of the versions of DMT work with the latest Home Hub software(So I believe). I used it with the Voyager 2500v I mention I am using. Its a pity because I would have liked to try and change some hub setting .

The Home Hub will not work satisfactorily in my House. See my post:-

Worrall98, Thanks for clarifying. I've just realised what a daft question I asked bearing in mind what you have posted about trouble in your house with a home hub. Sorry to be so thick!

Just checking that this isn't Home Hub problem or an underlying fault with your line or DSLAM? :-) :-) :-)

No not Home hub as I am using my 2500v.

This morning I changed my filter and plugged directly into test socket. Dropped even more. Swiyched back to my combined faceplate and filter(Quality one) speed actually has gone up by 200. normal would be another 800. SNR 8.3 downstream usually 5/6.

Bt say line OK but case has been escalted last night to higher level. Exchange should be checked againor the whosit you said. I am not technical so any suggestions welcome.

The fact it is improving would suggest weather/water somewhere. Bt insist I am not in training mode.

Thanks.
