in the last few days II noticed that my HTTP downloads got truncated.
what happens is that the download finishes when on disk I have just something like 30kb to 2Mb. every time the part I get is different, but usually this small.
Things I attempted to get were large (100-200mb) binaries like eclipse and vmware (so from different sites, eclipse from a few mirrors btw), but also a much smaller 12mb eclipse plugin.
I experimented with two ubuntu machines (both at same sw level though) each with firefox 2 and 3. Also Windows xp with firefox 2 and IE (6 or 7 don't know).
For eclipse I solved the d/l by using an FTP mirror. All http mirrors I tried ended up with incomplete downloads.
This makes me think that the ISP is doing something new and crappy, but of course phoning them and talking to s.o. - that described himself as a member of bt broadband tech support - was like sending output to /dev/null.
I was only offered to get my speed checked if I was running windows - on linux they are more than helpless.
anyone else having this prob?
suggestions?

PS - interesting enough, for the vmware tar.gz binaries I used this workaround :
on windows , not save the files on disk on download, but to have them opened by the associated application (winrar);
either on 1st or 2nd attempt winrar opened the file (meaning the archive was good) and I grabbed the on-disk copy from the tmp directory.
This workaround of course did not work with vmware player for win - which is an exe. similarly failed in trying to get a jdk .bin file .
