Will changing phone number affect broadband

[link to this post]

If a bt total broadband customer wishes to change their bt phone number will the broadband be affected due to the number change, or is broadband associated to the physical line rather than the number of the line?

Any help would be appreciated.

Only issue could be billing, best thing is to talk to them and see. Shouldn't cause any, or at least I wouldn't think so.

This is old so may have changed but the official line used to be:

If any of the following changes are made to an End Users PSTN service, the
ADSL service should NOT be ceased:
* Where the customer wants a renumber
* Where the customer wants to change tariff (i.e. between Business and
Residential).
* Where the customer wants to change the Account Holder's name for
reasons of:
* Marriage
* Divorce
* Deed Poll
* Bereavement
* Business Name Change
* Where a Business Customer wishes to change the location of the PSTN
(and ADSL) within the same building (in effect a Shift, but may be a
"different addresses").
* Where the customer requires a change of Billing Address, with a
final bill.
* Where the customer is changing to / from Calls & Access, or from one
Calls & Access provider to another.
In all other circumstances where there is a change to the PSTN service, the
ADSL Service will be ceased.
