How long should you give BT.....

[link to this post]

The end of my contract has just passed for another year......but I sent an email asking what was going to happen now, will the cost per month revert back to the original price as their offer was for only 12 months.......that was 8 days ago and no answer, I have since sent another email (with first emails ref number) and again no answer. How long should I wait for an answer ?.
I am not going through last years fun and games on the phone again, was passed from dept to dept, even though all I wanted was my mac code, I got asked about cancellation, changing option etc etc, I was on the phone for over 45mins (talking for approx 10mins) till I got annoyed and put the phone down.
I want to get this sorted, for I am very tempted to go to O2 and knowing me, I will send an email asking for my mac code on Monday morning (not got a lot of patience with companies).

LOL

BT's helpdesk only exists to fob you off until you get bored and give up... they aren't there to help you... seriously.

They aren't even capable of or interested in dealing with the simplest of requests, they'll just put you on hold, palm you off to another dept, refer you back to the original dept, tell you it will be fixed in "5 days", then another 24-48 hours, then blame it on something completely unrelated and refer you back to the original person again... meanwhile "escalating" it to a non existant dept just to keep you "happy".

What exchange are you on, and does your contract renew for another 12 months? If so when is the renewal date?

Called Bt a couple of days ago. Ref my contract at the end of term and was wanting my MAC code.

I asked for my MAC code and told the op i was migrating to O2 because of cost.

I was on option 2 and paying the full wack.

After a little discussion with the operator I was offered broadband for £9.27 on opton 1 and £2 of my monthly line rent. All for 12 months. A new V2 black hub was also ordered for free. This arrived on Friday (ordered Wed night)

And if O2 LLU is in your exchange you could have had real broadband instead tongue.

and thats if you can understand them smile

We are on the Old Colwyn exchange....not LLU'd and I doubt it ever will be and our contract ran out on the 12th. Also as we are on option 3 / 4 due to the offer we had last year, is it right that we are now not in contract or have they automatically put us on another 12month contact ?.
Tried the helpdesk this morning....more fool me, got nowhere, so first thing monday morning I am asking for my mac, had enough, I am off to a company who have helpdesk people I can understand smile

At the same time if it had no LLU, he would be stuck on access... My mobile phone with o2 is great, can't say I'd take their broadband, especially access!

That just isn't the case.

There were a couple of atrocious months as they severely under-estimated the new customer takeup and the lead time for additional kit from BT is three months.

It is now back to being a far superior product to BT Retail Broadband.

O2 access is great. As RobertoS said, they had some problems recently but they have been sorted out and performance is fine for a good price.
