Mines now dropped to 250-600kbit - very random lots of fluctatuation...

I guess they don't actually want customers.

Unfortunatly I have very little choice when it comes to changing ISP.

Good luck with Sky. Your speeds will be better, but they will probably cap your sync rate or at least they use too, with their system for giving optimum DSL speeds.

Was with Sky until I got tired paying the Sky (HD) tax and jumped ship in Dec 2008.

As long as they don't cap my speeds below 3mbit i'll be happy.

Very close to following you BloodUK, we have not really had any problems with the broadband side of things, but with the BT billing and vision, They have taken £30 out of our account for the connection charge for the vision......which we do not have, so upon complaining to problem solver Mr A. Rigby, we thought that would be it...but alas, the vision dept decide to "credit" the money towards our next bill. Normally that would be fine, except that we have enough credit to cover the next bill and some of the next one due to BT's mistakes with our account.
I am just waiting for some bright spark at BT vision to charge us the £194 if we do not connect the vision box immediately.....then it will be straight to a solicitor, had enough of BT's staff making mistakes on our account.
The only problem would be, we would be on Sky connect..

Il be leaving for sky too once our move to the new house is sorted after many delays . Would be intrested in how smooth OP switch goes.

I happen to be in a lucky situation as im in a market 3 area so have pretty much coverage by every big isp even 50 mb virgin cable. Asked my dad a few times to switch but was reluctant even though we could have been on a faster and cheaper network. We have multiple users at my house so even if we arent heavy users individually all of use together means we are. Being throttled at peak times can be painfull for streaming especially when you sister is screaming why is the net slow. Trying to explain her constant iplayer/youtube blah blah dont help is hard to get through .

Anyways will be going onto the max LLu too so hopefully get decent speeds at an estimated 17 Mbps. They have upped there speeds too which is another bonus for uploading files.

I left BT for SKY in April, its something i have not regretted at all and i pay half the price and get faster downloads.

Since this morning and stable , hopefully it will go up through the 10day test and i might end up on adsl2+. It will also be interesting to compare sky to BT's throttling from 18.40pm onwards.

I'm currently testing a torrent and its going 431kb/s , guess what it's the afternoon!. On BT i'd be doing 13kb/s lol

Nice one, glad to see you've benefited in your connection rate from moving away from BT and their not so good profiling system! I thought you could force your modulation to ADSL2+ if you use something like DMT tool (if your router is compatible?) and the advanced tweaking to adjust your SNR, depending on your SNR Margin you may even be able to tweak another 10% our of your line.

You can see where to set the modulation at the top right of this link.

But depending on the length of your line you may be better forcing it to adsl2, I found it was more stable as that operates on a lower frequency (see here) and therefore doesn't seem to get as much feed back on longer lines, resulting in greater stability.

i.e.

ADSL and ADSL2 on 1.1 MHz
and ADSL2+ is on 2.2 MHz
