I have been gettting disconnected every few minutes, speeds are fluctuation wildly - often half the 4-5mbs download speeds I had been getting previously with Bulldog/Pipex - at the same time my snr margin is much lower than it was (about 10dbs vs. 17dbs) downstream. Should I hold tight or act now and insist this is looked into? Everything that could be wrong with my connection seems to be wrong - is this really to do with an "initial training period "or is there a serious problem?
I have to say - while not everyone has problems with BT - they aren't exactly being too inspiring atm with heavy congestion in their core network, bad line profiling and unpredictable peak time speeds - I've seen as low as 400kbit average on very bad days and sub 1Mbit isn't unusual.
Just wait it out, the SNR margin will find a point where it's happy. the target for a BT Wholesale managed line is 6dB by default although this can go anywhere up to 15dB from memory. You also have interleaving which may come on to further stabilise the line.

Hi Has, The speed can fluctuate during the first 10 days of activation. Theres not a lot that can be done before that period is over. If you PM me your details Ill check the connection for you.

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).
Might have spoken too soon! Still speed and disconnection issues. Beginning to regret leaving Bulldog/Pipex
Hopefully teething problems or if there is a fault server side, that will be addressed soon
