In reply to a post by Axolotl:
I don't suppose you could get interleaving switched off on my line, which is a BT wholesale ADSL Max line rented through Talktalk?

I used to get 8128k syncs all the time for over a year, then had some problems with my line that caused my syncs to drop and interleaving to be put on. Openreach have now fixed the line fault, but Talktalk can't (or won't) get interleaving taken back off.

Since it is a BT service under the covers, I wonder if BT can help? Might even encourage me to migrate back to BT when my TT contract ends...

are you sure yours is a BT service? http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/

they didnt want to help me and my adsl is a BT white label service through postoffice. my hostname/ip address is BT, all my traceroutes are BT. Host-XX-XXX-XXX-XXX.wlms-broadband.com

I assume the BT reps here are employees of BT (Retail) Total Broadband. Nothing to do with BT Wholesale although they may need to contact someone there to get interleaving turned off.

As such, there would be a justified riot by other ISPs if the BT reps started altering the other ISPs' customers' connection settings at the request of the users.

You'll need to talk to the talk talk reps.

Don't think I haven't tried.

They've basically said "We know what the problem is, but we won't fix it".

End of story, and end of my Talktalk contract as soon as it is economically possible.

Cheers,

Axolotl

.
My speed dropped when I renewed my contract with BT and I thought as I had negotiated a discount on my broadband Option 1 down to £7.33 per month for the next 12 months they had also cut my speed.I had dropped from a steady 4200kbps down to about 3500kbps. Not much I know but it could have been due to connection of the new Homehub2 they had sent me.
The homehub2 didnt work very well and after spending 1hour10 minutes on the phone to BT India it didn't get any better so I went back to my homehub1 which is fine.
Since having interleaving switched off my speed has gone up to 4500kbps. I hope it holds.
Thanks to BT care.

Regards
Greigster

Am I being thick here? I dont understand your above post. You only registered today and this is your first post but your statement means nothing to me. Your obviously not BT care, but of course if you would like to explain the meaning of your first post and throw some kind of light, it may well clarify things.

Speeds went up nicely after interleaving was switched off but have now dropped. should I have interleaving switched back on? Or should I re-sync the router.
