Sync Speed down again!

[link to this post]

Why is it whenever my connection drops then comes back again my Sync Speed drops?

Months now it has been 5964000, now it's 4415000 this will take ages to increase, that's if I don't get disconnected again.

Happens to often my speeds will never go up. Can't wait until I can move away from BT.

Must admit my last ISP I had a few down problems but never lost speeds like I do with this outfit.

No point phoning India never seem to get anywhere.

ADSL drops the connection when the noise gets so bad that it cannot maintain the signal.
If the noise is still present when you resync, it will resync slower.
If the noise subsequently goes away, ADSL does NOT drop the line and resync at the higher speed that is possible, you have to manually do this.

Is it exactly the same hardware and basic broadband speeds as with the last ISP?

Hi MrSaffron
Thanks for the explanation.
Just my bad luck I guess!
BT Engineer phoning today, will ask him to investigate noisy line.

Every phone line will see the occassional drop due to noise, and you need to rule out any effect induced by your in home wiring before BT visit, otherwise they will charge £150 for the call-out.

You need to find out whether the line performs better using the test socket (location of which is described on the inside cover of the telephone directory). This removes any effects from your extensions.

I presume this is an ADSL engineer, as if its a voice engineer they will simply carry out voice tests, and if the drop outs are random just once or twice a day it could be as simple as an electrically noisy vehicle driving by.
