FTTC speed wow

Ok had FTTC for nearly 7 months now and if I`m honest never worried too much about the speed. However have done a wee test download with my usenet client and its sitting at 3500KB/s and its flying, just over 2gig down in under 10mins ! Not bad considering my sync speed is about 31mb down.

Everyone on other ISPs knows that *everything* fun is throttled to next to nothing on BT...remember?

BT are quoting 31.6/7.5 for my line but I think I might get full sync as the box is 108 Meters behind the house, the probable cable run is still under 200 Meters. I should know on Friday

BT's initial guesstimates are wildly conservative, IMHO.
Back in October, I was told that I'd get 23.3Mb up and around 9-9.5Mb down on my line.
When I was connected, I immediately got an IP profile of 38717/10000 and consistently see speeds of around 36.5Mb up and 8.1Mb down. I'm around 150ish metres from my fibre cabinet.

Do you mean 10,000, or 1,000 ip profile on 2Mbps upload limit?

And I get about 35k profile at 480m - even with extensions etc disconnected. Just marginall jealous of 38k (if only because at some point the upper cap may go up)

Not a big deal of course - still so much better than 3.5 Kbps *download speed* before

Been pleasantly surprised that I've only had
- HW issue : HH2 was replaced with HH3 - fixed
- about 60 mins one day where the throughput fell to around 14 Mbps (ouch) at off peak (BT say tech fault)
- min speed rest of time around 27

quite funny now other ppl saying they wouldn't go to BT. Sure there may be capacity issues that come and go but certainly so far == very positive
