Re: BT Business Infinity speedtest IP Profile 18352kbps?

I phoned BT support, I was told to wait 14 days for the stabilisation period to end and they will investigate. Speed currently 17642 Kbps.

Zarjaz, there are hanging holes on the back of the VDSL model and I remember seeing a template in the box.

Hi there,

If you're not comfortable drilling holes to mount the modem, then you can do what I've done and use double sided sticky pads and attach the modem to the wall that way. smile

Nothing to see here.. Move along, please

Just had a BT engineer, after some time between here and the box he decided to change the VDSL modem for one from the new batch as the old ones were prone to become faulty. So far my speed has peaked at 38/8 or 39.6/10 on his device. Hopefully that was the only problem.

Also he left me a template for wall mounting the VDSL white modem just in case overheating is the problem - the box is in an open space anyway.

No wish to sound smug. Now get yer drill out and wall mount the blighter, new model or not, it's better to be safe than sorry. The lazy scrote of an engineer should have done this for you.

My Broadband Speed Test
It seems that the speeds have come down again:
Date 01/09/11 10:44:25
Speed Down 20280.30 Kbps ( 19.8 Mbps )
Speed Up 4561.23 Kbps ( 4.5 Mbps )

I tried the BT speed checker and the max achievable was 38/10. I don't think this is normal as I get 30+ all day at my other place.

I will have to check with BT again, I was told to call if the speed drops to below 30.

Edit: Just got a call from BT asking how the connection is (very efficient customer service!), I told them that it has not improved much. I have been told to monitor over 24hrs as the engineer did something at the exchange and I will get a call back before. I am pleased that they called me instead of the other way around.

I misread your first post, I thought you were asking if it was wall mountable.

Can it really overheat in less than 24 hours that much? It is a bit warm not hot, it is in open space. Might have to try.

Although I do have a new Draytek Vigor 2750VN waiting to be used as a complete replacement. I was waiting for the line to be sorted.

Nothing is wrong if the BT speedtest is giving 38/10 throughput. Don't rely on the TBB speedtest.

The BT speed test was giving 19/7 - the IP profile max achievable was 38/10.

Just tried another BT speed test and got this:
> Download speedachieved during the test was - 32998 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16000-38717 Kbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is -38717 Kbps
---
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 7795 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 10000 Kbps

Hopefully it will stay like that now.

TBB speed checker now:
