CANT GET INFINITY WITHOUT A TELEPHONE PACKAGE

The title says it all, the stand alone broadband doesn't appear on the website

Pretty much the case, but you can get fttc from other providers who buy the Openreach component and there is no telephone package condition.

Its one reason why Infinity is priced as it is from BT, i.e. revenue from calls to subside the unlimited BB

Indeed; BT Retail are one of many providers who will only give you their broadband service if you have (or move) your phone line with them.

If you want to stay put (with your current voice provider) your option might be to go with one of the other ISPs who offer a FTTC product ('Infinity' is just BT Retail's FTTC product) - maybe IDnet, ADSL24, Vivaciti, etc.

Don't believe its possible. You have to pay line rental to get any FTTC service. For infinity that means paying BT and all their line rentals is include in a package

You need a phone line rental regardless of who you select.

BT just stipulate that you need to take BT's own line rental if you want the infinity product.

Sorry, correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like your refering to the call package as being the same as line rental when they are two seperate elements.

You would have to have 3 products to have BT's infinity.

1.Line rental, normal phone line
2.Call package, bogus free evening and weekend calls
3.infinity broadband ( rebranded fttc)

(Bogus = it's not actually free, you pay for calls in advance, but if you dont make anycalls, you still pay in advance for nothing. Check your BT itemised phone bill for mysteries service charges).

been with BT FTTC for a year now and haven't seen anything out of the ordinary on my bills apart from the Mrs using ring back and after explaining the costs involved she stopped using it

it seems that is becoming the norm now for larger ISPs that also have a phone service, for ADSL as well.

I think it should be stopped, people should have a choice if they want to separate their services.

I could go and get gas from one utility supplier and electric from another, so why should I be forced to take line rental from a company because I want their broadband? It don't always work out cheaper.


Thank goodness for smaller ISPs.
