What is your route to BBC.co.uk ? If via Ealing - which it may well be, we have some commonality.

TranceFM gives me 36Mbps.

Gather the data and go back to BT support - if you get a script monkey tell them it has to be escalated although if you have a Business connection you will get UK based support who will see the low speed as being outside the guaranteed limits.

Have you reported this to BT yet?

Try these downloads, I get 37.5Mbps on both for comparrison.

You say your bandwidth usage isn't high, try hammering it.

Yes I go thru Ealing for the bbc. TranceFM now also report >30Mb/s, so it looks like the problem is over for today. I'll try to get more instrumentation ready for tomorrow. I also poked the guys of @btcare and see what they think.

I am unable to access either of those sites. Internet has been a complete nightmare on Infinity for me this afternoon/evening. Some sites work perfectly, others do but very slowly and some not at all. BBC site is really slow - but it appears to be to things like emp.bbci.co.uk rather than to bbc.co.uk itself.

Tried speedtest.net and also got mixed results:

First one was fine:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1633989042.png

But then....
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1633981309.png
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1633992144.png

Other sites I can't get to:
www.trustedreviews.com
www.sky.com

One thing I have noticed is that all the sites I am having problems with seem to point to akamai.net. Two things are probably not related (speedtest results and slow sites).

EDIT
Think problems above were being caused by OpenDNS. Tried changing to OpenDNS earlier today because of DNS failures I was getting from BT. Anyway, just changed back and all sites seem to be working again. It also fixed my speedtest results to Newbury!! Bizarre!

I don't understand networking enough to begin to understand why smile

From what has been seen there could be an issue in Maidenhead or one of the links in or out

Unless people tell BT they cannot always see faults as finding every fault would need large amounts of test traffic taking up 100% of bandwidth at times!

Maidenhead is still sub 10Mbps for me ... and London 37Mbps
