Had Infinity for a month
Was predicted 15 Megs down, 4 up ...
Was getting 3 megs down, and 0.5 up with O2, and before O2 was getting 135k-160k down with Orange (provided by BT !)
This is what I now get ...

WOW!
Not often we say "thanks BT", but yes, thanks.
Rob
So you settle in period is over & its stable & speeds seem good, sounds like Bt are doing ok,

I have VM 50 meg at one property & BT Infinity at another.
VM - 50 mbit down, 5 mbit up, keeps dropping download speed to 0.7 mbit & have to reboot the cable modem every few days, falls over quite often, not considered reliable.
BT - stable speeds despite being up for months, 35mbit down, 7mbit up. Very good ping. Reliable so far.
VM is probably the better option if you do torrents, but else BT Infinity is the more reliable & seems plenty fast enough for what I use it for (bulk of the bandwidth used is downloading parish register images on Ancestry).

Thanks for that, i do you utorrent now 7 then but i dont download as much as i used to, ive notiched the last few nights when ive come home from work & wanted to connect to my laptop with wireless i have to keep rebooting the Virgin modem & router so i can connect wireless. never had that be for, & like i said i dont download that much now so why Virgin £35 a month when i can get BT Infinity & Landline for £34.60 for 3months then £39-60p after that, as long as its as reliable as Virgin is i will cancel Virgin after my 10 day settle in period, i am just worried if t gose wrong im stuck in an 18 month contract.

Hi James, Been with infinity 9 months; was estimated 29 down & 7 up. Normal figures are 28-36 down & 7-8.5 up. Two one day outages (maintenance) - checked with BT and was assured would be back to normal by 6am next day & it was. Usual cak BT support, but service has performed well for me: hope the same applies to you.
Cheers, Les.

I thought i read somewhere that it takes 10 days for line to settle & if you dont get anywhere near speeds your quoted your meant to call BT back within 3 months.
