I've got Virgin for another month as they owe me so much money in credits so it will be 'fun' comparing.

Nice one, how long did it take for install, did you need the Data extension Kit.

Install was about 2 hours from start to finish, very nice engineer, nice new cabling, internal and external, done well.
I'm not sure what a data extension kit is but I'm moving the HUB to my room via long ethernet cable - I do this with my current routers from the vm hub too.
It's stupid but I'm physically feeling such a relief not to depend on VM anymore.

I thought that a data extension kit was like an ethernet cable, but im not sure either all i know is ill need one because my master socket is in my living room & my pc is in my bedroom, was your service with Virgin that bad.

Plenty ...
Is it a new BT Home Hub?
Whilst you have it wired you may find tweaking your RWIN values will improve throughput and also, for some reason, set MTU to 1492!

The main issues with Virgin have always been with wireless speed. I can get a very consistent 45Mbs+ if I connect to the Superhub via ethernet, but it falls away badly on wireless, even in the same room. I've done modem mode etc.and can get 35Mbs+ with my Belkin router connected to the Superhub but really, if you can get good wireless speeds with BT, then you've made the right decision as you don't need a separate router. Virgin really shot themselves in the foot by supplying a hub with very poor wireless performance - let's hope BT don't do the same.

If te OP (James) has a BT Hub3 then the wireless performance should be pretty good. I can see a neighbours HH3 and given te relative locations and distances, I would guess that it is probably running at a fairly high power level - certainly greater than my Business Hubs and having used his connection, I have seen no issues with throughput, getting well into the mid/high 30s .
