Getting a 2nd line... Maybe not

BT are insane..

Here is what i was presented with when making an order

Looks like I wont be getting a 2nd line.

They must be off their heads!

I bet you dont even get it back either! I bet they just credit your bill witch is even more insane

Got a cable line or no phone line at all?

1.Check your line - you need to make sure you�ve definitely not got a BT line. Check your phone line now.
2.Install or activate a new line � depending on your situation, we may have to install a new phone line or activate an old one. The standard cost for a new line is £60.00, subject to survey.

You probably have very little credit history with BT or the various agencies and thus BT does not know if you are a good or bad risk. The deposit will be for 3/6/12 months and provided every bill is paid in that time you will get it back as a lump sum. If you fail to pay a bill then it will be taken from the deposit and your credit history will get another black mark.
